LOS ANGELES, February 2, 2023 – Yvonne Zima (The Long Kiss Goodnight, The Young and the Restless) joins Ginger Minj (RuPaul’s Drag Race) as the leads in indie short comedy “Stan Behavior.” Due to begin production this month, “Stan Behavior” is written and directed by emerging filmmaker Tyler C. Peterson (Copper & Wool, Summer Hill) and produced by indie film veteran Eric Michael Kochmer (Way Down in Chinatown, The Lizard Laughed).
This colorful romp will follow Goldie Hon (Minj), a disgruntled drag queen whose temper breaks after a series of demeaning interactions with fans at a gig. Goldie seeks legal counsel to fight for better workplace rights, but her situation turns dicey when her Lawyer (Zima), a tone deaf straight woman, reveals herself to be an unhinged drag super stan.
“While the struggles that Goldie faces in the film are over the top, they are rooted in truth. With drag’s increasing accessibility, especially among straight people, there is a disconnect in how drag entertainers are respected in comparison to other live entertainment performers,” said Peterson. “Stan Behavior shines a light on the casual disrespect that drag performers are subjected to by both those in the queer community and allies”.
“This is by no means a tedious lecture,” Peterson adds. ”The film is a hilarious and unexpected satire that puts the relationship between drag performers and their fans under a microscope in a way that will entertain both parties.”
Minj’s addition to the film follows her three stints on the Emmy-winning “RuPaul’s Drag Race,” where she was a finalist in Season 7 and All Stars 6. She has starred in the Anne Fletcher-helmed “Dumplin’” for Netflix alongside Jennifer Aniston and Dove Cameron, in the Netflix series “AJ & The Queen,” and most recently in Disney+’s “Hocus Pocus 2” opposite Bette Midler and Hulu’s “Huluween Dragstravaganza.”
“I am beyond ecstatic to be a part of Stan Behavior, because it takes all of these hot button issues within the drag world and flips them on their head,” says Minj. “It really takes the message and delivers it in a fun way without beating you over the head with it.”
Yvonne Zima plays Minj's foe, the unhinged lawyer who is secretly a massive drag stan. Zima started her career as a child actor in "The Long Kiss Goodnight", "Heat" and "ER" and went on to play Daisy Carter in "The Young and the Restless", and be featured in guest spots for "American Horror Story", "This is Us", and "Law & Order: SVU". Zima has most recently been highlighted in HBO's "Our Flag Means Death" where she also writes on.
“Stan Behavior” is produced by Eric Michael Kochmer of We Make Movies, and Emily Cook is casting.
Ginger Minj is repped by Clear Talent Group. Yvonne Zima is repped by Holt Management.
