Written by Katcy Stepahn, Variety released the festival line up for SCAD Savannah Film Festival 2024, which includes Stan Behavior. Stan Behavior will be screening in the SVAFF LGBTQ+ Short Film Competition presented by Amazon MGM Studios.
An expert can be read here: “Recognizing the need for more inclusive storytelling in the filmmaking industry, the SCAD Savannah Film Festival (SAVFF) and Amazon MGM Studios have created a dedicated SAVFF LGBTQ+ Short Film Competition. Amazon MGM Studios will donate $10,000 for the jury-awarded Best Overall Film and $5,000 for an Audience Award. Films in the program are under 40 minutes in length and represent excellence in storytelling and execution in narrative or documentary formats, reflecting unique insight into LGBTQIA+ themes, issues, or ideas.”
Stan Behavior follows local drag queen Goldie Hon, played by the world-renowned Ginger Minj. After a series of demeaning audience interactions at her weekly gig, Goldie commiserates with peers Cutie Pie (Heidi N Closet) and Belle Bottom (Marta BeatChu), determining that it’s time for them to unionize. Seeking legal counsel to move forward, Goldie meets with a lawyer (Yvonne Zima) discovered via an online legal forum, introduced to her as “Acquittal Queen”. Goldie’s situation turns dicey when Acquittal Queen is revealed to be an unhinged drag fan, and kidnaps Goldie to have her own in-home queen. Goldie’s road to gaining respect as an entertainment professional has just gotten a bit more complicated.
SCAD Savannah Film Festival will be held from October 26 - November 2, 2024.
